Tool Catalog
1001 - Fail Safe Head
The Fail Safe Head provides a means for safely connecting the flow from the drill pipe into the flow hose. It consists of a tool joint pin to connect with the drill pipe, a drop bar pin, a ball valve which can act as a master valve, and bearings to allow the drill pipe to rotate without twisting the flow lines.
1002 - Hydraulic Valve
The Hydraulic Valve is a down hole valve used in opening and closing the flow from the test zone. The tool gives positive surface indications of opening: a sudden small movement of the drill pipe, combined with a slight reduction in drill pipe weight.
1003 - Pump Out Sub
The Pump Out Sub is used to circulate fluid from the drill string after the DST has been completed and the drill string is ready to be removed.
The Pump Out Sub consists of a short sub with one or more hollow pins screwed into the sides. These pins project into the sub bore during the course of a test.
1004 - Sampler
The Sampler catches a sample of produced fluid and retains the sample at the downhole pressure of the interval at the instant that the hydraulic valve is closed. The valves of the Sampler are opened and closed by the movement of a mandrel extending from the hydraulic valve.
1006 - Extension Joint
The Extension Joint is used to allow free travel of the workstring. This allows operators to get a good indication of hole drag in deviated holes. The Extension Joint also allows free pipe movement before the Hydraulic Valve is operated.
1010 - Recorder Hanger
The Recorder Hanger is used to hang a pressure recorder inside a length of spacing or drill pipe (bomb well).
The Single Recorder Hanger can be run at any location within the test string except between the Infl ate Pump and the bottom packer (on an infl ate test).
1015 - Inflate Pump
The Inflate Pump is a down hole piston pump which delivers drilling fluid from the well bore to the inflate packers. The Inflate Pump is activated by rotating the drilling string at approximately 60 R.P.M.
1016 - Suction Screen
The Suction Screen filters the larger particles from the drilling mud before it can enter the Inflate Pump.
1017 - Inflate Release System
The Inflate Release System enables multiple inflate tests without having to come out of the hole after each test.
1019 - Upper Packer Assembly
The Upper Packer Assembly is designed to serve four functions.
- Mounting of the rubber packer element.
- Delivery or removal of drilling mud to the packer elements during the test inflation and deflation process.
- Inflation of packer elements to seal the top of the test interval.
- Equalization of hydrostatic pressure above and below the test interval.
1020 - Dual Recorder Carrier
The Dual Recorder Carrier is designed to be run in the test interval and holds two pressure recorders. Recorders are loaded through loosely fitted doors bolted to the sides of the carrier.
1023 - Lower Packer Assembly
The Lower Packer Assembly is designed to serve four functions.
- Mounting of the rubber packer element.
- Delivery or removal of drilling mud to the packer elements during the test inflation and deflation process.
- Inflation of packer elements to seal the bottom of the test interval.
- Equalization of hydrostatic pressure above and below the test interval.
1024 - Drag Spring
The Drag Spring is designed to resists turning in the hole when the drill string is rotated. This resistance transmits torque to power the Inflate Pump.
2002 - Shut in Valve
The Shut In Valve is used for compression set tests and is designed to take up to two flow periods and two shut in periods. It is run immediately above the Hydraulic Valve. It operates by right hand rotation of the drill pipe.
2003 - Rotating Control Head
The Full Bore Rotating Control Head is a modular 15,000psi flow head which can be configured with up to 4 valves and 3 flow paths. The solid one-piece center mandrel allows torque to be transferred to the tubing/drill pipe by rotating from above (Top Drive) or below (rotary table) while the flow lines remain stationary.
2004 - Squeeze Tool
The Squeeze Tool is a check valve that opens to balance tubing to annular pressure when the tubing pressure exceeds annular pressure. This prevents supercharging of the formation in the interval while setting packers or opening the downhole hydraulic valve.
2005 - Safety Joint
The Safety Joint provides a means for releasing from a set of tools that are stuck in the hole.
2006 - Conventional Packer
The Conventional Packer contains the telescoping mechanism to compress rubber elements against the formation when weight is applied.
2007 - Hydraulic Jars
The Hydraulic Jars allow jarring of the test string to aid in the freeing of downhole tools. The jar provides a temporary resistance that allows the drill pipe to be stretched. When the resistance is release, the drill pipe contracts to deliver the impact and freeing force.
2008 - Bottom Hole Choke
The Bottom Hole Choke is a short sub that can be located to restrict flow downhole through standard fixed chokes.
3000 - Exit / Fill Valve
The Exit / Fill Valve is a single shot annular pressure controlled, sleeve type, circulating valve designed to be used during cased hole testing and perforating operations, where only one circulation phase is required
3020 - Multi-Cycle Circultating Valve
The Multi Cycle Circulating Valve is an unlimited multiple cycle, differential pressure activated, circulation valve with five closed positions, one reverse position, and one circulating position. The tool can cycle through this sequence as many times as is required during well operations.
3030 - Multi-Cycle Tester Valve
The Multi-Cycle Tester Valve is an annulus pressure controlled ball valve designed to allow multiple cycles during cased hole testing and perforating operations.
3035 - Non-Equalizing Tester Valve
The Non Equalizing Tester Valve (NETV 3035) can be used as an alternative to the Multi-Cycle Tester Valve (MCTV 3030). Both tools use an annulus pressure controlled ball valve to allow multiple cycles during cased hole testing and perforating.
3040 - Single Shot Ball Valve
The Single Shot Ball Valve is an annular pressure controlled full opening downhole ball valve.
3050 - Gauge Carrier
The Gauge Carrier has been designed as a single body type carrier capable of housing four electronic memory pressure / temperature gauges capable of monitoring either tubing or annulus pressures.
3070 - Sampler
The Sampler traps a sample of produced fluids and retains the sample at the downhole pressure of the time of capture.
3080 - Hydraulic Jars
The Hydraulic Jars allow jarring of the test string to aid in the freeing of downhole tools. The jar provides a temporary resistance that allows the drill pipe to be stretched. When the resistance is released, the drill pipe contracts to deliver the impact and freeing force.
3090 - Pump Through Flapper Valve
The PTFV is run in hole with a mandrel holding the flapper valve in the open position. Annular pressure is used to move the mandrel allowing the flapper to act as a check valve. The flapper will shut in the well while retaining the ability to pump through the valve down the tubing.
3100 - Full Bore Hydraulic Tool
The Full bore hydraulic tool is a mechanically operated ball valve designed to allow multiple open/close cycles during cased hole testing and perforating operations.
3110 - Tension Safety Joint
The Tension Safety Joint is a two stage disconnect tool which is run above the packer that allows the tubing to be disconnected from the tool string below it should the need arise.
3120 - R-Type Retrievable Casing Packer
The R-Type Retrievable Casing Packer is a compression-set retrievable service packer used for applications such as testing, perforating, squeeze cementing, fracturing, acidizing and other operations.
