Sampling & Analysis
Produced hydrocarbons during a DST can be classed as proven reserves and added to reserve reports. Our DST report is a critical method of establishing reservoir characteristics, including:
- Permeability
- Skin damage
- Reservoir pressure
- Reservoir boundaries
- Reserve estimates
- Production forecasts
As an additional service, our technical report is complete with detailed test information, including:
- Recorder response
- Test zone depth measurements
- Tool string and configuration
- Field comments and observations
- Regulatory report submissions
Closed Chamber Testing
Closed Chamber Testing is conducted with the tool string in the hole and the surface valve closed to create a closed chamber of known volume. This method allows for the calculation of the volume of fluid inflow as a function of time by monitoring surface pressure. Closed Chamber testing allows you to measure the smallest flow rates with pinpoint accuracy. Flow rate and pressure data are calculated to 1 kPa providing increased flow rate accuracy.
By eliminating flaring, a Closed Chamber test offers the additional benefits of added data security, minimized environmental impact, and safety.
Northstar Report!
Applying our expertise and experience in testing, Northstar interprets the test data and presents the results in an easy-to-read format, which includes Horner extrapolations and derivative plots. This service is especially useful to exploration firms with start-up operations that require additional guidance in determining their reservoir characteristics.
Northstar Report! is provided at the conclusion of every test performed by Northstar.
Northstar Analysis!
Northstar provides Northstar Analysis!, an advanced report used to comprehensively examine factors beyond the scope of the information included in Northstar Report! such as skin damage, permeability, and anticipated production rates.
Northstar Analysis! is available on all tests at no additional fee.
Sampler Drainage
Northstar offers a sampler drainage service, which expedites the analysis process. This service includes the opening and draining of the sampler and delivery to a lab of the client's choice, where analysis will be conducted.
Sampler Drainage is provided as an optional additional service.
