OPEN-HOLE INFLATE TOOLS Open hole inflate tests utilize a pair of interval spaced packers which are inflated using annular fluid to isolate the formation of interest. This type of testing is adaptable to a wide range of conditions. Inflate testing is the most time and cost effective method that can be used to isolate multiple formations since multiple zones can be analyzed during a single run in the hole. Pump-Out Sub (POS-1003) The Pump-Out Sub is used to circulate fluid from the drill string after the DST has been completed and the drill string is ready to be removed. Recorder Hanger (RH-1010) The Recorder Hanger is used to hang a pressure recorder inside the length of spacing or drill pipe (bomb well). Dual Recorder Carrier (DRC-1020) The Dual Recorder Carrier is designed to be run in the test interval and holds two pressure recorders. Recorders are loaded through loosely fitted doors bolted to the sides of the carrier. Hydraulic Valve (HV-1002) The Hydraulic Valve is a down hole valve used in opening and closing the flow from the test zone. The tool gives positive surface indications of opening: a sudden small movement of the drill pipe, combined with a slight reduction in drill pipe weight. Squeeze Tool (ST-2004) The Squeeze Tool is a check valve that opens to balance tubing to annular pressure when the tubing pressure exceeds annular pressure. This prevents supercharging of the formation in the interval while setting packers or opening downhole hydraulic valve. Hydraulic Jars (HJ-2007) The Hydraulic Jars allow jarring of the test string to aid in the freeing of downhole tools. The jar provides a temporary resistance that allows the drill pipe to be stretched. When the resistance is released, the drill pipe contracts to deliver the impact and freeing force. Safety Joint (SJ-2005) The Safety Joint provides a means for releasing from a set of tools that are stuck in the hole. Inflate Pump (IP-1015) The Inflate Pump is a down hole piston pump which delivers drilling fluid from the well bore to the inflate packers. The Inflate Pump is activated by rotating the drilling string at approximately 80 RPM. Suction Screen (SS-1015) The Suction Screen filters the larger particles from the drilling mud before it can enter the Inflate Pump. Inflate Release System (IRS-1017) The Inflate Release System enables multiple inflate tests without having to come out of the hole after each test. Upper Packer Assembly (UPA-1019) The Upper Packer Assembly is designed to function as the mounting for the rubber packer element, deliver and remove drilling mud to the packer elements, inflate packer elements to seal top of test interval and equalize hydrostatic pressure above and below the test interval. Lower Packer Assembly (LPA-1023) The Lower Packer Assembly is designed to function as the mounting for the rubber packer element, deliver and remove drilling mud to the packer elements, inflate packer elements to seal top of test interval and equalize hydrostatic pressure above and below the test interval. Drag Spring (DS-1024) The Drag Spring is designed to resist turning in the hole when the drill string is rotated. The resistance transmits torque power to the inflate pump. |
