3100 - Full Bore Hydraulic Tool

Description:

The Full bore hydraulic tool is a mechanically operated ball valve designed to allow multiple open/close cycles during cased hole testing and perforating operations.

Features:

  • Splined construction allows torques to be transmitted through the tool.
  • Mechanically operated.
  • Lock open position allows the valve to be run in the hole in the open or closed position.
  • Ideal for wells with low pressure rated casing.
  • 2.25" bore allows for high flow rates and can be run in conjunction with wire/slickline or coil tubing.
  • Hydraulic delay prevents unintended tool cycling.

Applications:

  • Bottom hole shut in during drillstem testing and perforating operations.
  • Safety shut in valve for any situation where the workstring or tree connection develop an integrity problem.
  • Use in tandem with Multi Cycle circulating valve for fluid loss control.

Operation:

The FBHT uses a power spring to maintain the ball in the lock open or closed position. The ball is opened by setting weight on the hydraulic tool. This causes the power spring to compress and the ball to open. The tool gives positive surface indication that it has functioned by a sudden small movement. Pick up to cycle the ball to the 'locked open' position and reset weight to put ball in 'fail safe open' position. The ball is closed by picking up from the 'fail safe open' position. The Full Bore Hydraulic tool can accommodate infinite repeatability of cycling sequence.

The hydraulic section of the tool forces hydraulic fluid through small passages and delays the functioning of the valve. This prevents the tool from functioning unintentionally.
