DESCRIPTION:
The Shut In Valve is used for compression set tests and is designed to take up to two flow periods and two shut in periods. It is run immediately above the Hydraulic Valve. It operates by right hand rotation of the drill pipe.
It is run in the open position. When the hydraulic tool opens, the first flow period begins. Weight is kept on the packers causing the Hydraulic Valve to remain open throughout the test.
Rotating the Shut In Valve five turns shuts off the flow for the first build-up period. Rotating it another five turns opens the valve for a second flow period. Rotating another five turns closes the valve for the final shut in period.
